ABOUT ME
My name is Naomi and I am an International Board Certified Lactation consultant (IBCLC). I am a member of the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers (ABM) and the Lactation Consultants of Great Britain (LCGB). My background is in public health nursing (health visiting). I have spent the last 6 years’ supporting breastfeeding mothers both professionally and voluntarily. I am a breastfeeding mother of two spirited children and we live in Manchester.

PHILOSOPHY
I am passionate about supporting women to create a postpartum that respects, supports and honours them as new mothers, for the first time or all over again. A postpartum that centres the baby’s need for connection, supports their transition from womb to world, and provides them with nourishment from breast milk where this is the mothers’ wish. I am a certified New Born Observation (NBO, Brazelton Centre UK) practitioner and can work alongside you to see your baby's unique strengths and support needs in their fourth trimester.
"Naomi visited us in hospital and observed me breastfeeding which was incredibly helpful and reassuring having had a few days of continuous conflicting advice from different staff members. Many of the staff were helpful and well meaning but to have somebody that I knew and trusted giving gentle guidance was a huge relief."
Helen
I have witnessed how joyous establishing a feeding relationship with a new baby can be when the mother/family is supported fully to meet their specific goals. This can be true even when difficulties occur. I strive to ensure that mothers feel confident to navigate their journey on their own terms, whatever path it takes. I know how hard breastfeeding can be when women are not supported or their caregivers or family members have not processed their own feeding experiences or have limited knowledge of how breastfeeding works. Many women feel let down by conflicting and confusing information.
alongside lactation support I can help you to
-
read your baby’s cues
-
set up sleep spaces to optimise family rest
-
plan your postpartum goals and dream your feeding journey
-
debrief previous feeding experiences (of your own children or intergenerational ones)
-
navigate boundaries with extended family/ friends as you transition to parenting
WHERE AND HOW I WORK
COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS
Face to Face
I am providing face to face contacts in line with government guidelines. This includes having PPE and screening questions on household wellness. I will bring my own refuse bag and any waste items including PPE will be bagged on leaving your home and placed in your waste with your consent. This is to protect you and any other families I visit. I will bring hand sanitiser and ask that you have a place for washing my hands with soap and water.
Remote contacts
Video consults work well but do have limitations, to mitigate these I will request photos or videos of your baby feeding along with an intake form before our session. There are creative ways to guide you when it comes to comfortable latch and positions.
